What Is Cogeneration?
The Process and Benefits of Cogeneration
Cogeneration -- the beneficial use of the by-products of electrical energy production -- is not a new concept. It is a proven process, successfully used for more than a century in commercial, industrial, multi-family residential and institutional installations. In fact, in the 1920's, more than half of the electricity used in the United States was produced by some form of cogeneration.
Today, the world is experiencing an energy revolution, partly due to technology breakthroughs in the 1970's developed for the military and government use by several companies. These sophisticated advancements have resulted in a highly compact and efficient cogeneration system which provide a new and better solution to today's energy needs.
How Does Cogeneration Work
Co-Energy America, Inc's systems are designed around units by SDP Energy and I POWER Energy Systems, with outputs of 60 KW up to 1 MW. The heat by-product is recovered through a highly efficient process in the form of hot water or low pressure steam. This can then be used for space heating, cooling, domestic hot water and other industrial processes.
The system works in tandem with the electrical utility power grid and generally provides 50%, or more, of your electrical requirements. The balance continues to be provided by your local utility.
There are three ways you may use choose to take advantage of the Co-Energy America on site energy production option:
1. You may wish to purchase your own cogeneration system and
take control of your own energy costs.
2. You may wish to contract with or jointly operate with another owner of the cogeneration equipment.
3. You may wish to allow Co-Energy America, Inc. to install equipment at your site at no cost to you, by contracting for the purchase of future energy from us.
