What Is Cogeneration?
The Process and Benefits of Cogeneration
Cogeneration -- the beneficial use of the by-products of electrical energy production -- is not a new concept. It is a proven process, successfully used for more than a century in commercial, industrial, multi-family residential and institutional installations. In fact, in the 1920's, more than half of the electricity used in the United States was produced by some form of cogeneration.
Today, the world is experiencing an energy revolution, partly due to technology breakthroughs in the 1970's developed for the military and government use by several companies. These sophisticated advancements have resulted in a highly compact and efficient cogeneration system which provide a new and better solution to today's energy needs.
